How Face Enhancement Works

What It Does
Models like GFPGAN are trained on face pairs (low/high quality) and learn to restore fine detail: skin texture, eyes, hair. They can reduce noise and mild blur in faces.
When to Use
Portraits, group photos, old scans with soft faces. Works best when faces are clearly visible and at least 64×64 pixels. Adjust strength for subtle vs strong enhancement.
Limitations
Cannot fix severe blur or very low resolution. May occasionally smooth skin too much. Not intended for creating artificial beauty—use for restoration and clarity.
