Common Photo Restoration Mistakes
Photo restoration can go wrong when source quality is poor or settings are too aggressive.
Starting Too Small
Scan at 300 DPI or higher. Low-resolution sources limit how much AI can improve. Grain and compression artifacts become more visible when upscaling.
Over-Processing
Pushing enhancement strength too high can create plastic-looking skin or odd artifacts. Use moderate settings and compare before/after.
Skipping Damage Repair
If photos have scratches or stains, use a restoration step before colorizing. Colorizing damaged areas can lock in the damage.
Wrong Tool for the Job
Use denoise for grain, sharpen for softness, face enhance for portraits. Don't expect one tool to fix everything.
